Sarajo Frieden

Already quite an established illustrator, I discovered Sarajo Freiden through her interview on illustrationmundo. Her work is inspired by so many many different cultures and you can find so many lovely little details in each piece.

Chad VanGaalen

My good friend Stuart Kolakovic introduced me to this on the weekend and it has stayed with me ever since. It is so incredibly haunting and beautifully illustrated by the very multi mega talented Chad ValGaalen who does the music and the videos for all his songs. My god.

Emily Sutton

Emily Sutton's 3D illustrations are some of the most beautiful things I have seen in a long time. The world of sculpture and making things has always been a bit of a mystery to me so someone creating such beautiful little creatures is so very ace. She is currently still studying at Edinburgh College of Art, I expect she's going to go very far!

Patrick Smith

Pat Smith needs no introduction.. director of Daria (which got me through my teen years) and other awesome MTV ads, he is an animation legend. I had the pleasure of hanging out with him in New York and he's ACE! And can weave a very good story. Check out some of his short films, we caught a screening of Puppet in New York and it was genius. Oh and that handsome chap in the right is none other than Etsy's own Eric Beug one of the folks behind the music and film making of Handmade Portaits.

Kelly Hudson

Kelly Hudson is a comedy genius, she is the co-creator of Sweigart Entertainment, a very awkward, very funnny comedy skit where she plays an incredibly convincing man. Watch the video or click the link to check out her work.

Gabriella Kessler

Second in my series of awesome people from New York is my mega bezza Gabriella Kessler. She is hands down one of the funniest people I have ever known. Her film 'The End of an Affair' is a stroke of awkward relationship break up genius.

Arthur Metcalf

So having just come back from New York I have had the pleasure of meeting some really genius people, so I thought I would do a short series of posts on the people I met and their work. So please let me introduce you to Arthur Metcalf of MetcalfLovesYou
This is just a small example of his ridiculous and amazing work, his most genius piece 'Fantasie in Bubblewrap' has yet to premiere on youtube, but i'll let you know as soon as it does. (you can however see a bootleg version on there if you search hard enough).
That beautiful lady standing next to him is Mary Morgan, one half of the wonderful Glitterpie Blog.

Julia Rothman

I recently had the pleasure of working with Julia Rothman on the exquisite book project..and I could stare at her work for hours trying to figure out how someone could be so very very awesome. She's also one of the nicest people ever so that's another plus. When I one day manage to bag up my own house by the beach I will be calling on her a.s.a.p. to wallpaper the entire thing.

Rachel Harris

Oh yeah, that Rachel Harris is a genius..not only is it hilarious, its beautifully detailed and the colours are perfect. No wonder she has had her work in the New York Times, The Village Voice and 3 X 3 Magazine. She was also raised by artistic wolves which makes her even ace-r.

Berkley Illustration

Having recently bagged up 6 of these bad boys (my favourite is the gormless looking panda bear...but it's a tough call) I cannot rave about these guys enough. Berkley Illustration
have made a massive name for themselves with their ace-o serious animal prints..each coming with their very own personal back story...man why didn't I think of this first! Link

Kate Slater

Kate Slater, a very recent graduate from Kingston University, has already worked for the likes of Amelia's Magazine, Passion Pictures and Random House to name but a few. With such amazing original work, all hand made with paper and wire it's not hard to see why she has been so succesful..keep an eye on this girl, she's going to be mega famous. (and if you want to own some of your own paper magic..her shop is here)

Pepa Preito

I recently discovered Pepa Prieto and I am in love..I haven't seen work as inspiring as hers in a long long time and I can't get enough. It makes you feel all happy inside like you've just eaten a lemon yoghurt.

Dax Norman

Why didn't I think of this? Because I am not as clever as Dax Norman, that's why. You're being bombarded with animation this week because if you haven't seen these things I am showing you you are not truly happy.

David O'Reilly

David O'Reilly's animation pretty much makes me happiest. Watch it, it's going to make sense.

Ruozhu Sun

Ann Ruozhu Sun
is probably one of the funniest people I have ever met..if she ever invites you round for tea, go for it, you'll have a great time. So no wonder her work is so genius. She is currently doing an MA in Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art and her work just keeps getting better and better. I had a sneaky flip through her sketch book the other day and everything is so so funny and so intricately drawn and her characters are unlike anything i've ever seen. If you have a minute click on the illustration with lots of characters on it and spend ages staring at all the delicious detail and humor. Mm. You can also now buy a collection of accessories from her Etsy Shop it's just begun so stay tuned for more work for sale. Yus.

Divine Paper House

Today is Matt Scott Day. Hooray! The man behing the Divine Paper House Matt has some of the most diverse work I've seen and it's all super rad! (Of course I favour the animals the most..but I'm sure that's no big suprise!) Having graduated in 2008 and bagging up a whole bunch of awards he has already worked with the likes of the Guardian, has been commissioned to create a children's book....AND he's creating the front cover of Nickelodeon's magazine..I myself used to buy this magazine in my youth and it has some very interesting articles on how to create your own gunge and such and it's pretty much the highest honor ever (I have to admit I'm jealous). You can bag up his prints and postcards here for a bargainous price..so what are you waiting for?
